This blog will be used to provide commentary in the form of journalistic-style articles written by each class member. Student articles must include text and may also include images, and links to other blogs; web pages; and, other media related to its topic.

My challenge to you is to write one short article and publish it on this class blog. Your article should contribute to the goal of conveying the following assumptions:

"Given the diversity and pluralism of organizations, library and information agency managers must be able to make sense of and use multiple perspectives, and learn to bring their knowledge to a wide range of decisions each day. Organization theory can help managers to think abstractly and to apply abstract reasoning to concrete situations. Examples of applying theory to every-day practice (for problem-solving and creating new ideas and opportunities to learn) can increase learning capacity and inspire us to think, speak, and act broadly and wisely" (Hatch, 2006). Sharing examples using a web log provides another public forum to “speak” and to receive feedback.

Your article must include 1) a practice (in the context of the library and information profession; 2) theory (or theories) from the classic, modern, symbolic-interpretive, and/or postmodern era; and 3) make reference to the contributing academic discipline(s). Look for opportunities to link to interesting resources. Your article and entries in this blog should be scholarly and professional.

In addition, you must post a minimum of one comment to one classmate’s web log article. Your comments should be scholarly and make reference to a concept or theory from course content.

Enjoy!
